NHL Three Stars: Koivu plays hero again for Wild; Fleury blanks Caps

No. 1 Star: Mikko Koivu, Minnesota Wild

The Wild captain continued his recent torrid pace scoring a goal and assisting on two others during Minnesota's 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators. In his last eight games Koivu has posted 12 points. He put home his second game-winning goal in three games with this snipe with 2:57 left in the third period:

No. 2 Star: Nikita Nikitin, Columbus Blue Jackets

Nikitin picked a great time to score his first goal of the season as his tally 2:25 into overtime gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames:

No. 3 Star: Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins

It was a light workload for Fleury as he faced 18 shots during a 4-0 blanking of the Washington Capitals. The Penguins netminder recorded his 25th career shutout and third win in his last four starts.

Honorable mention: Jonas Brodin, Zach Parise and Dany Heatley recorded two points for the Wild. Josh Harding made 34 saves to improve to 13-3-2 ... Two points apiece for Beau Bennett, Evgeni Malkin, Paul Martin and Sidney Crosby, whose power play goal came after some lovely tic-tac-toe passing by the Penguins:

Travis Zajac was credited with the overtime winning goal as the New Jersey Devils came from behind to beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3. Jaromir Jagr scored career goal No. 689 to tie the game with 61 seconds left in regulation. In the extra period, Ben Lovejoy's clearing attempt deflected off Corey Perry and into the Ducks' net. Patrik Elias was credited with three assists ... Highlights of the night: Clarke MacArthur's assist and Reto Berra's bicycle kick save.

Did You Know? "Minnesota has allowed an NHL-low 23 5-on-5 goals this season." (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Craig Anderson lost for the sixth time in his last eight starts ... Via NBC Washington's Adam Vingan, the Capitals have dropped five straight to the Penguins and have been outscored over that stretch 21-9.
