NHL Three Stars: Garbutt, five-goal third period power Stars over Ducks

No. 1 Star: Ryan Garbutt, Dallas Stars

The Stars blitzed the Anaheim Ducks with a five-goal third period en route to a 6-3 victory Tuesday night. The tongue-waving Garbutt scored a goal and assisted on two others as the Stars won for the fourth time in six games. His tally came after some good hustling:

No. 2 Star: Antoine Roussel, Dallas Stars

Roussel scored the opening goal for Dallas in the second period to tie the game 1-1, then added his second of the night to put things out of reach at 5-2 midway through the final frame. It was the first multi-goal game of Roussel's career.

No. 3 Star: Cody Eakin, Dallas Stars

Eakin, a proud ginger, scored his sixth of the season to even the score early in the third period and would later assist on Alex Chiasson's empty-netter.

Honorable mention: Vern Fiddler and Erik Cole each chipped in a pair of assists ... Dan Ellis made 28 saves for his first win since Oct. 17 ... This was Dallas' first win at home in five games ... Helping power the Stars' five-goal third period were three tallies in a 53-second span by Eakin, Stephane Robidas and Garbutt:

Did You Know? Sergei Gonchar is the third Russian player (Fedorov, Kovalev) to play 1,200 NHL games. (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Anaheim won just 26 of the 67 face-offs in the game. Ryan Getzlaf was 5-for-21 in the dot.
