NHL Three Stars: Zajac tricks Panthers; Ducks’ stunning rally

No. 1 Star: Travis Zajac, New Jersey Devils

The Devils center notched a hat trick and added an assist on Ryane Clowe’s second period goal in New Jersey’s 6-3 win over the Florida Panthers. Zajac had a goal 12 seconds into the game and then another at 11:33 of the first; he closed out the scoring at 9:37 of the third.

No. 2 Star: Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks got down 4-0 to the Winnipeg Jets. Getzlaf scored a key third-period goal to cut it to 4-2 and then fed Corey Perry for the game-tying goal at 19:37 of the third before Stephan Robidas’ OT game winner. Anaheim stunned the Jets, 5-4.

No. 3 Star: Mikko Koivu, Minnesota Wild

Koivu scored the eventual game-winner at 4:56 of the third period as the Wild won a key game in Los Angeles, 3-2 over the Kings. He also assisted on Zach Parise’s power play goal in the second.

Honorable mention: Ales Hemsky scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Ottawa Senators topped the Carolina Hurricanes, 2-1. Jeff Skinner scored his 30th. … Jaromir Jagr had a 4-point night with one goal and three assists. … Justin Williams had a goal and an assist.
