NHL 3 Stars: Clarkson, Williams post 3-point nights; Iginla finally scores

No. 1 Star: David Clarkson, New Jersey Devils

Clarkson was in on all 3 goals in the Devils' 3-1 triumph over the rival New York Rangers, assisting on the first and scoring the second and third himself. He's now up to 7 goals on the season. Martin Brodeur earned first star honours in the game, making 24 saves and keeping the Rangers off the board until midway through the third period. Here's my favourite save:

Sure, the form is a little goofy, but he basically breakdances on top of the puck. How cool is that?

No. 2 Star: Justin Williams, Los Angeles Kings

Williams picked up an assist on 3 goals as the Kings took two points from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 4-2 triumph. He added 4 shots. Mike Richards had a goal and an assist as well.

No. 3 Star: Tom Sestito, Philadelphia Flyers

The Tampa Bay Lightning did a lot of things right Tuesday night, but they failed to keep Tom Sestito in check at their peril, and wound up falling, 2-1, on the strength of two Sestito goals. Ilya Bryzgalov did his part, ensuring Sestito's second marker at 11:11 of the third period stood up by shutting the door.

Honourable mention: Jarome Iginla finally scored his first of the season, inspiring the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings... Brandon Sutter scored what turned out to be the game-winner as the Pittsburgh Penguins doubled up the New York Islanders, 4-2... Erik Karlsson, Chris Phillips and Daniel Alfredsson scored in the first period for the Ottawa Senators in their 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres...

Bryan Little scored the overtime winner in the Winnipeg Jets' 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers... Pekka Rinne stopped 31 of 32 shots as the Nashville Predators trounced the St. Louis Blues, 6-1. Martin Erat and Colin Wilson both had 3-point nights... James Van Riemsdyk scored two goals in an 155-second span in the first period as the Toronto Maple Leafs topped the Washington Capitals, 3-2. His first goal could easily be filed under dishonourable mention for the Capitals:

Ladies and gentlemen, your Washington Capitals. Game of Thrones character Korbinian Holzer's first NHL goal was the winner... Patrick Kane scored twice in the Chicago Blackhawks' 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. Strangely, neither goal came in the first period, which is where every other goal in this game took place.

Did you know? The Blackhawks are now 8-0-2, which is even more impressive when you consider that they've played 8 of those 10 games on the road.

Dishonourable mention: I've already gone on record as saying I thought Zac Rinaldo's actions in his won fight over B.J. Crombeen were scummy, and it's clear the Lightning felt similarly, but Vincent Lecavalier taking that extra shot at Maxime Talbot later in the same game -- likely as vengeance -- was equally unnecessary:
