Logan Couture fined $5,000 for slew-footing (Video)
Logan Couture is not exactly a dirty player. But he slew-footed Detroit’s Brendan Smith in San Jose’s loss to the Red Wings on Thursday night. You can’t really do that. And he was hence fined $5,000.
The video:
From the NHL release:
The incident occurred at 16:03 of the third period. Couture was assessed a minor penalty for tripping and Smith was assessed a minor penalty for hooking on the play.
Guess someone missed what actually happened. Fortunately the Department of Player Safety looks at everything. And Smith is apparently going to be OK.
Such a fine basically says ‘we saw you do it don’t try it again.' I mean $5,000 for a guy making millions isn’t a lot, though that is the maximum. But Mr. Couture … Big Brother is watching you, in case you didn’t know already.
