Joffrey Lupul trashes TSN for allowing adultery joke on air
Social media hasn’t been kind to Toronto Maple Leafs winger Joffrey Lupul at the NHL trade deadline.
Please recall in 2011 when Down Goes Brown used a series of tweet that welcomed Lupul to Long Island to fool the Leafs winger into believing he’d been traded to the New York Islanders.
This time, the joke was a little cruder. Anthony Adragna, a die-hard Leafs fan, tweeted a joke about Lupul at TSN’s “#TradeCentre” hashtag. It read: “I want the leafs to keep lupul solely based upon the fact that he banged phaneufs wife.”
And it made it. On the air.
For millions of viewers around North America and the world to see.
Phaneuf's wife, of course, is actress Elisha Cuthbert, once again proving that no good can come from making sex jokes about Elisa Curthbert, right Avery?
Lupul really wasn’t happy about this, as could be expected. So he decided to play the card every upstanding media organization hates to see played. The ultimate media chip.
He played the TMZ card!
TSN just a poor mans TMZ. Embarrassing.

Adragna’s tweet was retweeted nearly 600 times within hours, and he addressed the incident later in the morning:
Okay i feel like i have to say this before shit gets ugly. That tweet was a joke and i am in no way in support of those who commit adultery

Well glad he cleared that up.
Its sad how my tweet is more entertaining than the actual deadline day

To be clear, this is TSN’s problem, not the guy in Twitter making infidelity joke, as Adragna notes:
I guess i pissed off lupul... woops my bad man, not my fault TSN failed to their job right.

It got through their filter, inexplicably. Just like it did last summer when someone let a tweet through that suggested German-born Oilers prospect Leon Draisital's nickname should be "The Final Solultion,"a Nazi reference.
To the surprise of no one, the network stopped running live tweets during the broadcast. And here we thought they were free and clear of any inappropriate Twitter sex jokes when they kept Penner home …
TSN apologized on Twitter for the faux pas, writing:
"Earlier today, an inappropriate and disrespectful tweet was erroneously aired. As soon as it was flagged, we immediately removed it. We’ve reached out to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization and all those impacted to extend our sincerest apologies for our error. It should have never, ever gone to air."
