The Ilya Brzygalov rap anthem: He’s a hockey philosopher (VIDEO)

Lately, Ilya Bryzgalov has been stopping pucks rather than pontificating about the size of the universe — which must be a relief for the Philadelphia Flyers — to the point where he's refusing to even put himself over in postgame interviews.

But the die is cast thanks to his HBO "24/7" space cadet routine: He is a hockey philosopher. Which is something this short but memorable rap song reinforces quite effectively.

Via Enrico from The 700 Level, that's Mr. Flula on the mic, "a regular caller into 94 WIP" who dropped this tune last week on air with Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow. Asks Enrico: "Does the timing of this latest red hot single hitting the airwaves coincide with the resurgent play by the Flyers most-expensive net minder ever? Obviously one has to do with the other."

"Ilya Bryzgalov (is the Puck Stopping Philosopher)" … we say it's about 85-percent "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco, 10 percent "Flight of the Conchords" and about 5 percent "The Genius" Lanny Poffo. A huMANGous five percent …
