Halifax Mooseheads turn ice into 3-D video show in awesome pregame (Video)

Halifax

Remember when hockey pregame special effects involved spinning logos projected on the ice and a cheesy Jumbotron video accompanied by a generic rock song?

Well those days are numbered. Technology has advanced to the point where the rink itself becomes a special effect, and it’s awesome. The latest innovations come courtesy of the Halifax Mooseheads, who have been running this during the QMJHL playoffs.

Uh, wow. The referees must have thought they ingested mushrooms during the pregame meal.

We’ve seen this sort of thing in some NHL arenas: The New Jersey Devils turning the rink into a lake of fire, for example. But this is next-gen stuff that is usually reserved for Olympic Opening Ceremonies rather than a Canadian junior hockey playoff game. The 3-D stuff, especially.

So when do they start selling tickets to road games that are projected on home ice?
