Guy Boucher goes off on Spengler Cup referee (Video)

YouTube

The Canadian team entry into the 2014 Spengler Cup was knocked out on Tuesday by Swiss side Geneve-Servette after clawing back from a 5-0 deficit.

With Geneve-Servette holding a 6-5 lead with 35 seconds left in the game, Canada was called for a too many men on the ice penalty before a face-off. That ended Canada’s hopes, and head coach Guy Boucher (yes, that one) was none too pleased after the game with the official who made the call.

Via YouTube user Sportscentral1000:

“You’re an idiot. You’re the star here. People came here to watch hockey, not you!”

Who ya got? Intimidating Guy Boucher or the guy wearing a uniform with a cow’s face (the tournament's milk sponsor) on them?

The call was due to IIHF Rule 412: "Change of Players Procedure During Stoppage of Play – five-second time limit applies throughout the entire game." It's the same rule in the NHL except that it's not enforced in the final two minutes of regulation or overtime.

Bet Boucher can’t wait to get back to the NHL and coach in a Tim Peel game.
