Capitals, Flyers renew pleasantries with another line brawl (Video)
The Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals have met three time since their big brawl on Nov. 1 that saw Ray Emery go after Braden Holtby. Each of those games have featured plenty of physicality, some fights and proof that there's still lots of hatred left over from their first meeting of the season.
Wednesday night's matchup was their second meeting in four days and emotions boiled over in the first period after a clean hit by Luke Schenn on Ryan Stoa:
The resulting penalties were game misconducts for Vincent Lecavalier and John Erskine. Tom Wilson was given a 10 minute misconduct, five for fighting and two minutes for instigating, while Schenn received a fighting major.
The most curious decision was the double minor for cross-checking and slashing on Wayne Simmonds, who clearly jumps Erskine as he's scrumming with Lecavalier. How he escaped a game misconduct over Lecavalier is a mystery.
You'll note that Steve Mason and Braden Holtby were in no rush to leave their creases and partake in the festivities.
