Canucks to bring back flying skate jerseys for one night in February

The Vancouver Canucks celebrated #ThrowbackThursday by taking us back to the 1980s and '90s with a special announcement. Dust off your Kirk McLean jersey; get that old beer stain our of your Greg Adams sweater; and straighten up your Jyrki Lumme shrine, the flying skate is coming back.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of GM Place Canada Hockey Place Rogers Arena, the Canucks will don those oh so gorgeous black flying skate jerseys for their Feb. 13 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Just. Look. At. Them.

Affectionately known as the “spaghetti plate,” the Canucks wore the logo from 1985 to 1997 when plenty of memories were made, like their run to Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup Final; all those Pavel Bure goals; GREG ADAMS! Kirk McLean’s save; McLean, Trevor Linden and “The Hug.” OK, so most of these memories came during that ’93-94 season...

The Canucks wanted to wear the flying skate jerseys on the night they honored the late Pat Quinn, but it just didn't happen. Finally, they'll get to see the light and it will be awesome to see these things back on the ice for at least one night.
