The Bruins Bear returns with hilarious 1980s-style sitcom featuring Brad Marchand, Jack Edwards (VIDEO)

Where has The Bruins Bear been hibernating?

The unofficial mascot of the Boston Bruins starred in some of the most hilarious commercials in NHL history, preaching fan etiquette from the concession stands to the men's room.

Well, he's back. Dear lord, is he back.

The Boston Bruins on Monday debuted Bruins Digital Entertainment Network (yep, Bruins DEN) that seeks to package all of their digital and social content together. Part of that network: The Bruins new official Mobile App via AT&T, which is available for free on iTunes, Android Market/Google Play and Blackberry App World.

Fans who download that app get an exclusive look at the Bear's new starring role: "The Bear and the Gang," a series of shorts in the style of a 1980s sitcom that feature Brad Marchand and other Bruins players; fist-pumping TD Garden legend Rene Rancourt; and, of course, beloved paragon on impartial commentating, Jack Edwards of NESN.

Here's the teaser/opening credits for it. Andrew Ference and/or Shawn Thornton will make you spit coffee on your screen:

The first episode, titled "Video Games", is exclusive to the mobile app on its release date. There will at least two more videos as the Bruins head to the postseason, and then perhaps a few more should they make a run.

Again, we bow to teams that get it. Not only when it comes to content delivery, but in quality of content. This sitcom has a chance to reach a Belfast Giants level of shameless self-parody. And by that we mean: C'mon, fellas, musical episode. For Rene's sake.
