Blackhawks present President Obama with United Center parking pass

In what’s been a regular occurrence during his term in office, the Chicago Blackhawks celebrated a Stanley Cup championship by visiting President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday.

While congratulating the team, the president gave special recognition to Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, who just moved into second place all-time on the NHL’s wins list, and revealed a possible secret to success.

“So between Coach Q, Coach Ditka, Ozzie Guillen, Phil Jackson, it appears the secret for any coach hoping to bring a title to Chicago is to grow out your mustache,” the president joked.

The laughs kept coming as the team’s head of scouting was given a shoutout, with the president saying he was told he could provide assistance in selecting the next Supreme Court justice following the death of Antonin Scalia.

“He volunteered. He said, ‘I know what I’m doing,'" the President said.

At the end of the ceremony, Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz presented the president with a No. 15 jersey, a small replica of the Cup (which Obama said was almost as cool as the one they gave him in 2013 that pops popcorn) and a parking pass to the United Center good for any event at the arena.

“Can I just say this is the best gift I’ve ever got at the White House. This is really cool,” the president excitedly responded.

After missing out on the D.C. Winter Classic last season, maybe, just maybe Obama puts that parking pass to use and finally gets himself to a Blackhawks game before he leaves office.
