Blackhawks give tributes to Oduya and Sharp in Chicago returns (Video)

On Thursday at United Center, the Chicago Blackhawks paid tribute to two of the more important members of their recent Stanley Cup success.

The team played two videos, one for forward Patrick Sharp and the other for defenseman Johnny Oduya. Sharp, a former Hawks alternate captain, played 10 years in Chicago and won three Cups with the team. Oduya, who played four years with the Hawks and won two Cups with the organization.

Chicago played Sharp’s video (above) at the first stoppage of the first period. Oduya’s video was played during the second stoppage of play in the same period.

“That was very special. First class by a first-class organization," Sharp said. "I’ve said many times I enjoyed my 10 years here in Chicago. Very proud of what we accomplished on and off the ice. I have a lot of good friends over there on the other side and that was definitely emotional to watch that.”

Here is Oduya's video:

The Blackhawks traded Sharp to the Stars last summer for salary cap reasons. Sharp is under contract for another season with a $5.9 million cap hit.

The team let Oduya walk in unrestricted free agency for similar reasons.

The Stars defeated the Blackhawks 4-2 to move within one point of first place in the Central Division. Both Sharp and Oduya did not pick up a point.

Sharp has 40 points in 55 games this season, his first with the Stars. Oduya has 15 points in 54 games. Last season he had 10 in 76 with Chicago.
