Adidas to give out Porsches to top three 40 times at NFL combine
How's this for a brilliant promotion?
The three fastest players running the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine will each win a Porsche 911 Carrera before they ever sign a pro contract. (Here's Dr. Saturday's write-up on it.).
It pays to be fast, apparently. Adidas is teaming up with Porsche to give away the three cars — each valued at about $83,000 — who sign with the shoe company ahead of time.
Note to college blazers such as Miami's Phillip Dorsett and Ohio State's Devin Smith: You might want to switch to adidas. Stat.
If they do, and they can run a Chris Johnson-esque 40, they'll take home Porsche's new Uncaged adizero 5-star cleat and a racecar with a sweet cheetah decal. Living the dream.
A year ago, adidas gave away one $100,000 prize to the player with fastest time at the combine wearing the company's cleats, which went to Oregon State's Brandin Cooks, who was a first-round pick of the New Orleans Saints.
One thought: The players who win had better hope they get drafted, and drafted fairly high. Otherwise, the tax bill on that cheetah car might be a bit unwieldy.
