Matt Schaub: Ndamukong Suh is not ‘Houston Texan-worthy’

Not that the Houston Texans are in need of any more defensive tackles at this point -- when you have J.J. Watt, Antonio Smith, Shaun Cody and Jared Crick on your roster, it's safe to say that you're all paid up in depth at the position. But if current Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh is thinking of a change in scenery when his rookie contract is up after the 2015 season (though 2015 is a voidable year), he should probably avoid Houston if Matt Schaub is still the quarterback down there.

When Suh kicked Schaub in the groin on Thanksgiving Day, the quarterback didn't feel like responding to the offense at the time.

"I really don't have anything to say about that play or that person," Schaub opined after the game, a 34-31 overtime win for his team. "You know, we're just proud of our guys in that locker room for sticking with it. We played a lot of football in the last four days and pulled out a victory."

However, Schaub had a lot more to add when he was asked about Suh when he hit the airwaves on 610 AM in Houston. The hosts asked if he'd ever want Suh as a teammate, and Schaub simply said, "No."

He then elaborated.

"No, you don't want a player like that. The stuff that he stands for and the type of player he is, that's not Houston Texan worthy. That's not what we're about."

Makes sense. I wouldn't want to play on the same team with a guy who kicked me there, either.

Of course, as talented as Suh is, many teams would overlook his history, both on and off the field, should be ever pop loose to the free-agent market. There's already been some speculation that the second-overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft might want to test that market down the road.

"Thank u Jesus! Only 2.5 more years!#Freedom," Suh's sister Ngum tweeted on Oct. 18, just after her brother was involved in his fourth traffic accident in three years.

"What my sister tweets is what she tweets," Suh told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "It has nothing to do with me. That's her personal account. I would love to be [in Detroit]. This city is great to me, it continues to be great to me. The people are great people and I love playing here, that's why I wear the jersey."

Whatever jersey Suh is wearing in years to come, don't expect him to be part of the Texans' "Bulls on Parade" defense.
