Lamar Miller gets 1,000-yard season on longest run in Dolphins history

Lamar Miller passed a personal milestone in style.

Miller, who is having a breakout year in his third season for the Miami Dolphins, passed 1,000 yards in a season for the first time. He did it on one of the four longest runs in NFL history.

Early in the third quarter, the Dolphins were backed up at their 3-yard line and handed to Miller, who burst through a hole on the right side, then ran past a New York Jets defender who fell down and was off to the races. He outran the rest of the defense to the end zone for a 97-yard score, the longest in Dolphins history. That put him over 1,000 yards for the season.

There have been only two longer runs in NFL history. Tony Dorsett has the only 99-yard run in NFL history, for the Cowboys in 1983. Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green had a 98-yarder in 2003. The only other 97-yard run before Sunday was Andy Uram for the Packers in 1939.

So Miller joined a couple of nice lists on one play Sunday.
