Greatest petition ever: 'Tim Tebow is the hero Denver deserves'

It has not escaped the attention of Denver Broncos fans that both of the quarterbacks that started games for the team in its Super Bowl-winning season last year are no longer on the roster. And at least some believe they have found the answer.

Colin Kaepernick? Nope. Sam Bradford. Pffft.

Nope, they want Tim Tebow back.

Yes, the same Tim Tebow who hasn't played in an NFL game in going on four years. Yes, the same Tim Tebow who Florida Republicans would like to see run for Congress. The same Tim Tebow who couldn't complete 48 percent of his passes in 35 games at the pro level.

But Tebow fans are fervent and many, and over 3,200 of them have signed an online petition imploring the Broncos' braintrust to bring him back to Denver since it was posted over two months ago.

The fan who started it, Will Garner, wrote, "The Denver Broncos have lost their two main quarterbacks from their epic 2016 Super Bowl Championship winning season. We need a proven winner to continue to move this team in the right direction. Coach Gary Kubiak's offense would thrive with Tebow under center. He and the legendary John Elway can make this happen. We dont need a subpar throwaway from some other team, we need an original Bronco who has the fire, desire, and love of the game to play as a Bronco again! As a bonus the Bronco fans would be ecstatic! He just wins, we all know this! #TebowTime"

Once it gets 5,000 signatures, Garner says the petition will be delivered to Broncos' general manager John Elway, head coach Gary Kubiak, team vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth, and ESPN.

And yes, one of the comments supporting the idea, from a fan in Belgium, declares, "Tim Tebow is the hero Denver deserves".
