Frustrated 49ers running back Frank Gore has ‘choice words’ for coach Jim Harbaugh

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is not accustomed to losing with Jim Harbaugh as his coach.

The 49ers were 13-3 when Harbaugh took over before the 2011 season. San Francisco finished 11-4-1 last season and advanced to the Super Bowl. Harbaugh and Gore kicked off 2013 with an impressive win against the Green Bay Packers, and it was business as usual for the 49ers.

That was until San Francisco dropped its past two games.

The Indianapolis Colts went into Candlestick Park this past Sunday and knocked off San Francisco, 27-7, and Harbaugh’s team has fallen to 1-2. This is the first time San Francisco is under .500 with Harbaugh, plus the 49ers have never lost consecutive games during his tenure.

Those factors likely contributed to Gore voicing his displeasure to Harbaugh after this past Sunday’s loss.

Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle outlined the confrontation on his Twitter account:

Gore had 11 carries for 82 yards, plus two receptions for 21 yards. He touched the ball against Indianapolis, but the Colts defense played better than most NFL observers expected prior to this game.

So far, Gore has 41 carries for 142 yards and one touchdown this season. However, San Francisco has been outscored 56-10 in two straight losses, which is the more troubling statistic.

Players and coaches get into disputes all the time, and Gore is not the first player to voice his displeasure during or after a game. Harbaugh and Gore will likely dismiss the altercation and blame Sunday’s emotions on the series of defeats. Some will think there are bigger problems looming in San Francisco.

To be fair, it is not like Gore is accustomed to losing under Harbaugh.
