When the NFL owners hold their spring meetings in San Francisco next weekend, three proposals to change the extra point will be discussed.

The NFL competition committee, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles all have varying proposals on the table.

According to the Associated Press, both the Patriots and Eagles want the one-point extra point kick moved back to the 15-yard line (resulting in a 32 or 33-yard try) instead of the 2-yard line as it currently stands. Additionally, the Eagles want the ball moved up to the 1-yard-line for 2-point conversions. The Patriots want the 2-point conversion to stay at the 2-yard-line.

Additionally, Philadelphia believes the defense should “be able to score points if it returns a turnover on the 2-point conversion to the other end zone.”

Per the AP, the competition committee agrees with the proposals from the Eagles, except it believes the 2-point conversion should stay at the 2-yard line.

For any of these proposals to pass, a three-fourths majority is required. That means votes from at least 24 of the 32 league owners are needed for a change to be put into effect.
