Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne is showing all the telltale signs of being a top-10 draft bust.

First, the former sixth overall pick of the draft has struggled on the field. Then when he was informed that his bad play couldn't be tolerated anymore, he reportedly made things much worse for himself.

Claiborne was informed he was benched for Orlando Scandrick on Tuesday, a couple days after struggling (again) against the Rams. ESPN.com said at that point he stormed out of the facility, skipping out on the team's walk-through practice. The Cowboys could fine Claiborne for missing practice.

Claiborne himself said he didn't play well on Sunday, even though he came down with the game-clinching interception, so this couldn't have come as too much of a surprise. Claiborne was a big-time prospect heading into the 2012 NFL draft, but has never played up to that. Injuries have been an issue. Sunday's game, in which he gave up numerous catches, including a 51-yard touchdown, was the point where the Cowboys decided they couldn't keep betting on his potential eventually shining through. He was benched in 2013, too.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted that Claiborne has been a disappointment so far.

“Is he what we hoped for at this point when we drafted him with the sixth overall pick, giving up the (second-round) pick to go up to the sixth pick to get him? No,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, according to ESPN.com. “But he’s going to be a good player.”

The team had optimism Claiborne could eventually turn it around, but his disappearing act on Tuesday won't help matters.
