Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady participates in full-team drills

Denver Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady participated in full-team drills on Saturday, his first on-field action since the team's double-overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional playoffs on Jan. 12, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports.

Clady missed the offseason workout program after undergoing shoulder surgery. Clady was also without a contract as the Broncos designated the three-time Pro Bowler with the franchise tag while the two sides worked out a long-term contract. Clady signed a five-year, $52.5 million contract that included $33 million in guaranteed money on July 15.

Head coach John Fox said Clady is on target to be ready for the regular season opener against the Ravens on Sept. 5.

Whether or not Clady plays in the preseason will be determined by the Broncos' medical staff, but offensive coordinator Adam Gase doesn't think it's completely necessary for him to play against the Ravens.

"I’m sure he would like to have a little bit of action," Gase said on Saturday. "That’s going to be determined by the trainers, obviously, and the strength staff. But I know the one year – I think it was 2010 – he missed everything (in the preseason) and we had to ease him in to that first game, because he couldn’t do anything until really close to the game. We’ll see how much practice time he actually gets, and that might be enough for him. We’ll see what the trainers say."

Clady actually appeared in just one preseason game in 2010 after injuring his knee while playing basketball in late April. Clady would start all 16 games during the regular season, playing in 1,049 of the Broncos' 1,062 offensive snaps that season.
