Beyonce will be performing for free on Sunday, just like every Super Bowl halftime act before her
Come Sunday, Beyonce will put on a show for over 70,000 people at the Superdome in New Orleans and for over 100 million people watching the Super Bowl at home.
It might surprise you, however, to learn the size of the paycheck the singer will be taking home once she leaves the stage and a nation of critics starts taking critiquing her performance note by note.
Beyonce's payday? Free-ninety-nine
That's right. Beyonce won't be paid a single dime for her singing, shaking and strutting as the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens retreat to their locker rooms for a break. That's because the NFL has never paid an appearance fee to any of its Super Bowl halftime acts, a list that includes stars like Paul McCartney, U2 and the late Michael Jackson. The league only picks up the performer's expenses, league spokesman Greg McCarthy tells Forbes.com.
But don't worry. According to Victor Luckerson of Time magazine, Beyonce will be just fine not making any "bills, bills, bills" because she'll be earning exposure on a stage she could never buy:

According to Who front man Roger Daltrey, the Super Bowl is an opportunity for increased exposure, even for a band that’s already sold 100 million records. “You can be touring like we have for 50 years, and there’s billions of people who have still never heard of you,” Daltrey says. “That’s the nature of the media these days.”
Luckerson points out a few added benefits for Beyonce: Increased digital downloads come Monday morning, an introduction to different generations who tune in for the game and the "affirmation of (her) pop-culture ubiquity."
An additional incentive: As Forbes.com points out, the sponsor of this year's halftime show is Pepsi, which signed Beyonce to a $50 million endorsement last year. (The company tells the website that the Super Bowl performance was not in her contract.)
Beyonce can afford to get out of bed for free for a day or two. In addition to her sizable fortune, she's married to Jay-Z and CelebrityNetWorth.com pegged the couple as the richest celebrity pairing in the world last October with an estimated worth of $775 million. That was more than enough for them to throw a birthday party for their one-year-old daughter last month that cost a reported $200,000 and included a $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll.
Bills, bills, bills, indeed.
