Back off again: Percy Harvin reportedly waffles on playing in 2016

It's fitting that a week after a report surfaced that Percy Harvin definitely wanted to play again, another report said Harvin playing this season is unlikely.

That pretty much sums up the craziness of Harvin's NFL career.

Peter Schrager of Fox Sports reported Friday that while teams have inquired about Harvin, it seems as though the controversial receiver will not play this year.

Harvin dealt with a hip injury last year when he was with the Buffalo Bills, and was reportedly considering retirement last season. The Bills placed him on injured reserve after five games.

It's possible the hip is forcing Harvin to sit out another season. It's also possible this is just another chapter is Harvin's strange NFL journey. Would it surprise anyone if this story changed a few more times?

The problem is that once thoughts of retirement creep into a player's mind, it's not always easy to fully commit to football again. If Harvin does feel well enough and buys back in, he's just 28. His history of distractions to a team is fairly long, but he can still play (although his last big season was way back in 2011 with the Minnesota Vikings). If Harvin changes his mind again, teams will call, warts and all.

As we know by now with Harvin, nothing is for certain. Perhaps his status for 2016 will change again at some point.
