Now that The Daily Show has devoted two segments to the issue of athlete compensation in the NCAA, there's no doubting it's a mainstream issue.

Jon Stewart lampooned the NCAA in two segments Thursday night and touched on topics ranging from Northwestern's unionization effort to the violation that Oklahoma had to report for three players eating too much pasta.

Stewart especially takes issue with the comments of Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald, who has been opposed to the movement started by his former quarterback Kain Colter. In the second clip, Fitzgerald makes references to being an "educator," and Stewart subsequently ends the segment with a One Shining Moment takeoff with coaches in various states of rage. If you only view a few seconds of either video, make sure it's that portion.

The Northwestern union vote is set for April 25. While it may be a while before we know its results and if the team will even be allowed to unionize, the discussion of the treatment of college athletes is going to continue in the meantime.
