UPDATED: Texas A&M didn’t get into the SEC by excelling in geography

Texas A&M is so new to the SEC that it doesn't actually know who's in the conference or where those particular schools are located.

A Texas A&M SEC shirt hit the Internet today with a picture of the states the Aggies thought were in the SEC and the words, "We may be new to the conference, but we aren't new to the game."

Texas A&M might, however, be new to the subject of geography.

North Carolina does not have an SEC team. The major college football schools in the state of North Carolina are UNC, Duke and N.C. State and they're all in the ACC. Unless, of course, Texas A&M knows something about SEC expansion that the rest of us don't.

Also, Missouri is missing from this map. Missouri is the new kid and perhaps there will be some hazing, but not even acknowledging the Tigers or Missouri as a state is just wrong (though Kansas applauds this move).

And yes, Texas is also missing, but it's on the back of the shirt. A&M wasn't going to forget its own state, though it wouldn't have been that shocking if it had.

*UPDATE*

Just for clarification, the university is not the one responsible for this T-shirt. A company called Aggieland Outfitters manufactured the geographic fail and actually issued an apology for its errors.

Howdy Ags — This is Aggieland Outfitters. I thought I'd repost this under a new personal account to follow the guidelines of TexAgs.com.

All I can say is we messed up on this shirt.

The original design was meant to have the old SEC states with Texas on the back as an addition to the conference. Somewhere from sketch to finished product North Carolina got added. Sometimes mistakes happen and we just plain missed it.

Hopefully we didn't ruin anyone's day with this.

Gig'em!
