Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin gets the an honorary title and a verbal smack down by the WWE

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin got a little more than he bargained for Sunday when he entered the WWE ring to accept an honorary heavyweight championship belt for turning the Aggies into a heavyweight contender in the SEC.

As he was delivering his speech to the crowd at Reed Arena, ginormous wrestler Big Show rudely interrupted him and basically told him to get out of the ring and take his fake championship with him.

It was highly entertaining to watch Sumlin, who looked about 3 feet shorter than Big Show, hide behind several other folks in the ring as he tried to stay out of Big Show’s way.

Unfortunately, Sumlin didn’t have any further participation in the antics. He didn’t bumrush Big Show and forearm shiver him to the ground nor did he smack him in the face with the honorary belt. In that regard, it was kind of a letdown. I bet Johnny Football would have laid Big Show out.

But it was cute and entertaining and I’m sure the good folks who came to see WWE stars beat the crap out of each other were happy to see the most popular football coach in Texas as well.
