Texas booster Joe Jamail supports Mack Brown, was not impressed with Texas Tech and TCU

Texas coach Mack Brown has Joe Jamail in his corner.

Of course, the Texas billionaire attorney is friends with Brown and speaks with him every day. The field at Darrell Royal Stadium is even named for him.

He's still optimistic about the Longhorns' chances for the Big 12 title despite the shellacking that BYU laid on them in week two. Why? Well, because of what he saw during Thursday night's game between Texas Tech and TCU.

From the Austin American-Statesman:

"Mack's still enthusiastic and thinks we've still got a good chance to win this conference," Jamail told the American-Statesman on Friday morning. "I watched about five minutes of the Tech-TCU game last night, and they couldn't beat my (bleeping) grade school."

Tech beat TCU 20-10 in a game that amidst a bunch of bad football featured a fox on the field, a borderline fair catch signal, and DeAndre Washington dropping the ball before the goal line.

Jamail, 87, told Kirk Bohls that he'd be at the Longhorns' game Saturday against Ole Miss, and that he was "hoping like hell" that the team would play better. If Texas wants to beat Ole Miss, it'll need to. Yeah, the conference title will still be in reach, but the Longhorns will be 1-2. And potentially no better than Jamail's grade school.
