Texas A&M WR Ricky Seals-Jones arrested on a disorderly conduct for language charge

Texas A&M WR Ricky Seals-Jones was arrested in College Station, Texas early Sunday morning on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Seals-Jones, who took a medical redshirt for most of 2013 because of a knee injury, was being carried away from a College Station establishment around 2:30 a.m. according to police and bumped into someone, which led to an exchange of words.

From KBTX:

As the officer moved towards the scene to see and hear what was going on, he says Seals-Jones broke away from his friends and yelled "F*** you! You want some?" The officer also says Seals-Jones motioned to the other person like he wanted to fight. The player was taken into custody on the misdemeanor charge.

Per the significant activity report on the College Station Police Department website, "language" is cited as the reason for Seals-Jones' arrest.

KBTX said A&M initially said Seals-Jones would be indefinitely suspended, however a team spokesperson said the school is investigating the incident to determine any discipline.

A four-star recruit in the class of 2012, Seals-Jones was expected to team with Mike Evans as a big and fast receiving tandem for Johnny Manziel to throw to. However, after having three catches for 84 yards against Rice, Seals-Jones underwent knee surgery in September and got a medical redshirt in October. Now, with Evans gone to the NFL, many are going to look to Seals-Jones to directly succeed him.

Seals-Jones' arrest comes a just over a week after A&M quarterback Kenny Hill was arrested. Hill was arrested March 28 for public intoxication. Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin called Hill's arrest "disappointing" and it's easy to see him using similar language about Seals-Jones' incident, even if the charge seems quite unique.

“I think people think we don’t do anything,” Sumlin said Monday (via the Houston Chronicle). “We’ve got a whole educational process with our young guys when they come in. The ‘CHAMPS’ class puts them through the structure of basically growing up. It helps guys with a sense of urgency about time management, and about on the field and off the field situations.

“(As for) drug and alcohol counselors, we have a couple of those guys come in at least once a semester. We have a complete curriculum and educational process for all of those guys. Yeah … (Hill’s arrest) is disappointing.”
