Report: Pat Haden taken from USC in ambulance

Outgoing USC athletic director Pat Haden was reportedly taken to see his doctor by ambulance from USC on Wednesday after he felt lightheaded when walking back to his office from a meeting.

Haden announced earlier in February that he was stepping down from his job at the end of June. He's been USC's athletic director since August 2010.

From the Orange County Register:

Haden, who turned 63 last month, was ''alert and talking’’ throughout the incident, according to a USC spokesperson, and there was no immediate indication how long Haden might be under medical care.

Haden, according to the school, was walking back to Heritage Hall after an on-campus meeting when he ''felt a little lightheaded and sat down.’’ USC medical personnel then tended to Haden, who at one point walked back to his office.

After further evaluation, it was apparently determined that Haden should see his doctor, at which point he was transported off campus via ambulance.

Per the Los Angeles Times, Haden was discharged from the hospital before 2 p.m. PT.

Haden was a member of the College Football Playoff committee but stepped down in October because of health reasons after doctors asked him to reduce his travel. He became lightheaded on the field before USC's game at Notre Dame in 2015 but was able to travel back to Los Angeles. Haden also missed the 2014 Salute to Troy event because of a brief hospitalization. A USC spokesperson said Haden's Wednesday incident was similar to what happened to him at Note Dame.

As USC's athletic director, Haden has hired two football coaches, Steve Sarkisian as Lane Kiffin's permanent replacement and Clay Helton as Sarkisian's permanent replacement at the end of 2015. All three of the coaches mentioned had previously served as offensive coordinators for the Trojans.
