Report: Johnny Manziel has highest Wonderlic score of any QB in 2014 draft class

Report: Johnny Manziel has highest Wonderlic score of any QB in 2014 draft class

Much maligned Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is the smartest quarterback in the 2014 class, according to multiple reports.

Another report said Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles scored a 28 and Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater scored a 20.

At least Manziel has something going for him as pundits have done their best to — mostly — crush any thought of him being the No. 1 pick in the draft. The high Wonderlic scores show he has the ability to think quickly and break down complex problems, which anyone who watching him play in college already knew.

We’ll see if coaches think that will help Manziel in a two-minute drill with the blitz bearing down on him.

While a 32 is impressive, it actually would not have been the highest quarterback score in any of the past five quarterbacking classes. However, it was higher than the last two quarterbacks who competed in the Super Bowl — Peyton Manning scored a 28 and Russell Wilson scored a 24.

Will the Wonderlic ultimately help Manziel’s draft status? We’ll know in about a month.
