Report: Ex-Alabama RB Altee Tenpenny, now at Nicholls State, arrested
The troubles of former Alabama running back Altee Tenpenny continue.
Tenpenny, who is now at Nicholls State after leaving Alabama and getting dismissed from UNLV, was reportedly arrested Sunday morning for “possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon.”
According the Thibodaux Daily Comet, Nicholls State announced in a statement that Tenpenny has been suspended indefinitely.
“Nicholls Athletics is aware of the incident involving Altee Tenpenny that led to his arrest early Sunday morning. Tenpenny has been suspended indefinitely from all football activities, effective immediately,” the school said in a statement. “All of our student-athletes are held to a high standard and will be held accountable for their actions. We will continue to gather information from the proper authorities regarding the incident as it becomes available.”
Tenpenny joined the Nicholls team during preseason practice after his brief stint at UNLV came to an end. Tenpenny announced his decision to transfer to UNLV in May, but was dismissed by coach Tony Sanchez in August for breaking team rules.
“It’s unfortunate, but we’ve got plenty of guys,” Sanchez said per the Las Vegas Review Journal. “At the end of the day, rules are the rules.”
Tenpenny spent two seasons and rushed for 218 yards and a touchdown on 48 attempts at Alabama before leaving the program in January. He was the No. 53 overall recruit in the 2013 class.
Tenpenny has not appeared in any games for Nicholls State this season.
