North Carolina to wear American flag helmets for Military Appreciation Day

In honor of North Carolina celebrating Military Appreciation Day against Idaho this weekend, the Tar Heels are wearing special helmets.

The helmets are North Carolina blue, but the interlocking NC logo is the American flag. Definitely one of the better looking military tribute helmets we've seen so far this year and a lot more creative than the standard camouflage.

"We thought one of the ways we would honor them is by wearing the flag on the interlocking N.C. that's never been done before here at Carolina," coach Larry Fedora said. "We're excited about doing that and hopefully we'll be able to honor them also with the way we play the game."

North Carolina is the latest ACC team to recognize the military this season. Virginia Tech wore special camouflage uniforms against Bowling Green last week. UNC also plans to have a flyover and Golden Knights parachute onto the field prior to the game.
