Marcus Lattimore has successful surgery

South Carolina announced Thursday that running back Marcus Lattimore had successful surgery last Friday.

Perhaps the best news is that there are no plans for further surgery.

The news release said several ligaments in his right knee needed to be repaired, and there were no fractures or further injuries. He had a strong team of doctors perform the surgery: South Carolina team physician Dr. Jeffrey Guy, Dr. Lyle Cain, and USC team consultant Dr. James Andrews.

The school said Lattimore is in good spirits and has started his rehab process, although the doctors agreed that he should not attend this week's game.

Before South Carolina's game against Arkansas, signage in South Carolina's stadium will be unveiled to recognize Lattimore's school-record 38 touchdowns. The hope is that Lattimore can return and the school will have to update that sign.
