Lafayette player dies from injuries sustained in car crash

Brian Keller, a tight end for Lafayette College, died Thursday.

Keller, 21, was injured in a car crash on Tuesday in New Jersey. It was a one-car crash on I-295.

From LeheighValleyLive.com:

Keller was driving a gold 2000 Ford Taurus at 6:03 a.m. on Interstate 295 North in Mansfield Township, Burlington County, when the car left the right side of the highway, State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams said. The car went across a grass berm and struck several trees, Williams said.

"The outpouring of support over the last several days from friends, teammates, fellow student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and other members of the Lafayette community is a testament to how greatly Brian will be missed," Lafayette president Alison Byerly said in a statement.

Keller was set to be a senior in 2015. He started seven of the Leopards' games in 2014 and had 24 catches for 320 yards and three touchdowns. A native of New Jersey, he played in nine games in 2013.

The FCS school went 5-6 overall in 2014 and was 3-3 in the Patriot League.
