Johnny Manziel sits courtside at the Mavs game while TNT analysts question how he got the tickets (VIDEO)

Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M’s Heisman-winning quarterback, has been everywhere since winning the famed bronze statue. He’s been on the "Tonight Show," he’s been on David Letterman, he’s even been on a billboard in New York's Times Square.

But on Thursday night, he found himself in courtside seats at the Dallas Mavericks-Miami Heat basketball game, which called into question how he landed such a posh spot during such a good game.

“How does a college kid get courtside seats to a Mavs game? Those are expensive seats,” analyst Steve Kerr pondered aloud during the TNT broadcast of the game. “I’m just going to throw that out there.”

After Kerr was asked whether he was trying to get Manziel in trouble with the NCAA, Kerr continued his pondering while not-so-subtly casting an NCAA rule-breaking shadow over the entire SEC.

“Just because he’s playing in the SEC now, I’m not trying to insinuate anything,” Kerr said.

Of course Kerr was insinuating that Manziel had obtained the tickets through some sort of nefarious actions and was therefore violating his A&M eligibility. But he had no proof to back that up. Manziel could have gotten those tickets from his parents, a friend or any number of different ways. Yes, Texas A&M’s compliance office is going to have to look into this, but this is also a kid whose family is trying to copyright the name “Johnny Football” so that anyone using it doesn’t violate Manziel’s NCAA eligibility.

It seems like he’d have a pretty good grasp on NCAA rules and after the game he made sure to clear up any misconception about his tickets.

TNT's Craig Sager also confirmed that Manziel had bought the ticket for his birthday, which was on Dec. 6.

That doesn't, however, explain how he also had seats to the Rockets-Sixers game on Wednesday night. Not only did Manziel go to the game, he also was invited into the Rockets' locker room after the game and showed James Harden how to strike the Heisman pose (and put it on Instagram for everyone to see).

Yes, it’s been a whirlwind for Manziel, but the last thing he’d want to do is turn a positive for the university into him sitting out the Cotton Bowl for a couple basketball games. If these games were a present to himself -- and he is a huge LeBron James fan -- good for him. It's probably something he's been planning for awhile.

And that's what we'll assume until the NCAA proves otherwise.
