Illinois’ season is summed up in two plays against Northwestern (VIDEO)

Illinois is 2-9, 0-7 in conference play and on the verge of its worst season since 2006.

During Saturday's game against Northwestern, Illinois and coach Tim Beckman were involved in a couple plays that pretty much summed up why the Illini are in such a poor position this year.

Late in the first quarter, Beckman was running along the sideline urging his team to play defense after a Northwestern player had intercepted the ball and was streaking down the field. The only problem was that Beckman was right in the path of the official, who gave Beckman a forearm shiver to the ground and then flagged him for being in the way.

The penalty put Northwestern in the red zone and the Wildcats scored on the next play.

It was the most Illinois series of events ever.
