Harvey Updyke, accused of poisoning Toomer’s Corner trees, arrested over lawn mower refund

Harvey Updyke won't get much sympathy, especially in the state of Alabama.

Notoriously devoted Alabama fan Updyke is awaiting trial on charges of poisoning the oak trees at Toomer's Corner in Auburn. Alabama fans want to disassociate themselves from him. Auburn fans don't like him for obvious reasons.

But, at this point, the story of Updyke is sad and scary.

Updyke was arrested in Hammond, La., the Hammond Daily Star reported, after arguing with employees at Lowe's over $40 when he returned a lawn mower. Updyke wanted $150 back. The store manager told him he was due $110. The police were called in when the situation escalated, and Updyke said he "had a bad heart so he would come back and take care of everyone."

Updyke was arrested, with officers saying they feared the safety of Lowe's employees and customers according to the paper, and was booked on a terrorizing charge. He was released on bond the next day, the newspaper said.

Updyke obviously has a pattern of odd behavior, and now he's threatening home improvement store employees over a lawn mower refund. WSFA-TV tweeted out Updyke's mug shot from his most recent arrest (and man, look at that 'stache):
