Former FSU DB Greg Reid reportedly tears his ACL, out for the season

Greg Reid's fresh start at Valdosta State has been put on hold indefinitely.

According to Coley Harvey of the Orlando Sentinel, Reid suffered a torn ACL during fall camp and will miss the 2012 season.

The Valdosta Daily Times reported that Reid injured the knee last Friday while trying to make a cut to elude a defender.

Reid was dismissed from Florida State on Aug. 1 for a violation of team rules. Reid was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and perjury. It was his second arrest in as many years.

But it gave Reid a chance to enroll at Valdosta State, which was near his home in Valdosta, Ga., and start fresh as he readied for a potential NFL career.

The injury actually comes on the heels of a movement by Florida State fans to show their solidarity for the dismissed defensive back. Last Tuesday, Seminoles fans started a public group on Facebook called "Raise 5 for Greg." The plan was (and probably still is) to raise five fingers during Saturday's Florida State-Murray State game to show support and appreciation for Reid, who wore No. 5 while with the Seminoles.
