Dan Mullen sends Mother’s Day card to offensive line recruit’s mom (Photo)

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen obviously follows the 'recruit the mom' mantra, especially around Mother's Day.

Mullen sent a handwritten card to the mother of Olive Branch High offensive lineman Chase Johnson last week. This was no form letter. Johnson shared the card on his Twitter account.

If Mullen is this thoughtful with a recruit's mother, you have to wonder what he did for his mom or his wife on Mother's Day? He definitely gets an A-plus for effort going the extra mile for an in-state recruit he obviously wants badly. It's surprising we don't see more of this from coaches around the country.

What's especially impressive is that Johnson isn't some four- or five-star recruit, at least not yet. Rivals.com hasn't assigned Johnson a star rating or a national player ranking to this point.
