Let's get Bob Knight a TV job, pronto

I'm sure there's a large segment of the college basketball population that would rather not see Bob Knight ever again, now that he's retired. I'm not a part of that group. In fact, I'll be terribly disappointed if he doesn't get a job in television, because he could be the best to ever do it.

In fact, he would be the best to ever do it. I'm saying it right now. If Bob Knight takes a job as a game analyst (please don't waste him in the studio), he'll be the best to ever do it. Not just in college basketball, mind you. The best game analyst ever.

Let's look at what most people want in an analyst, and see how Bob Knight would fit the bill:

Xs and Os. No one on earth would be more qualified. If you want
someone to tell you exactly how a team scored, and how the defense let it
happen, and what they should have done differently, who's going to be better at that than Knight?

Do not hold back with criticism. I think we're safe here.

Fewer prepackaged fluff storylines. I think we're pretty safe here, too.

Sense of humor. Granted, most people don't associate Bob Knight with fits of the giggles, but come on, none of this has made you laugh? Even if Bob didn't mean it to be funny? Undeniably, he's a clever and quick guy.

Now, I don't know what play-by-play guy would be anxious to work with Bob, and sure, he might kill three or four of them each season. But for the most part, play-by-play guys are interchangeable anyway. I think it would be a worthwhile sacrifice.
