Mad Dash: Texas goalkeeper scores from 90 yards away

In the team's second match of the burgeoning season, Texas Longhorns goalkeeper Abby Smith made a save against the Miami Hurricanes and then looked to boot the ball down the field. The bad news is her kick didn't find a teammate when it came down. The good news is it took one big bounce and slipped over the head of the opposing goalkeeper to give the Longhorns a 1-0 lead that they'd never relinquish. The 90-yard strike was Smith's third career goal at Texas, and we can't think of a better way to kick off a senior season than by scoring a game-winner and recording a shutout in the same match.

Perhaps no athlete in any sport shares the connection that Dale Earnhardt Jr. does with fans. So when one showed up with the last IROC racing suit Earnhardt Sr. wore, the younger Earnhardt was blown away. Then he tried the suit on and took a few picutres. We think his face says it all.

We've covered enough trick shots on the Mad Dash to feel comfortable calling ourselves experts on the subject, and to make sure we don't feature so many that we get tired of them. But we don't get a lot of trick swings, and especially not ones as complicated and impressive as what Marisa Arriaga recorded and then tweeted out. We're going out to the backyard to see how tries it takes us to pull this off.
