Tony Parker celebrates first NBA triple-double with French dessert and French teammates at French restaurant

Jeremy Lin's breakout 38-point, seven-assist performance drew most of the attention during Monday night's action-packed, offense-heavy matchup between the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, but his opponent in the evening's exciting point guard battle, the Spurs' Tony Parker, had a pretty notable night of his own — 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and just three turnovers in nearly 43 minutes of floor time in San Antonio's 134-126 overtime victory over their in-state rivals.

Parker's big night marked the first triple-double of his NBA career, which is somewhat surprising considering he's in his 11th season and Monday's tilt was his 978th NBA game (regular season and playoffs combined), but makes more sense when you remember that rebounds are part of this equation; after last night, the 6-foot-2 lead guard has now grabbed 10 or more boards on five separate occasions, four times in the regular season, once in the playoffs. Fresh off the win and milestone, the four-time All-Star joined his Spurs and French national teammates Boris Diaw and Nando De Colo for a postgame bite at Artisans — excuse me, Tony; "L'Artisan" — a French restaurant in Houston lauded for its "refined, low-nonsense French country cooking." There, according to Diaw's Twitter feed, he and De Colo surprised their countryman with a special ... I believe the French call it, "dessert."

I believe what Parker's holding there is a personalized version of Artisans' "Tarte Aux Pommes Frangipane," which sounds very delightful when you look up the ingredients (like "frangipane" and "St. Germaine Sabayon") with which you are not familiar because you ain't so fancy. What a nice and thoughtful gesture! I don't care what anybody says — these Spurs aren't bad boys. They are very nice men who are good, thoughtful and caring friends.
