The Kings really are paying for fans' tattoos of their new logos

The Sacramento Kings received widespread praise on Tuesday for unveiling a sharp new set of logos as part of a franchise rebrand that will include new uniforms for the Kings to wear when they begin playing in their brand new arena this fall. But do you like the new logos, or do you, like, like-like the new logos?

For fans who fall in the latter camp, the Kings made a special and fairly off-beat offer on Tuesday: get one of our new logos tattooed on your body, and we'll pay for it.

There are restrictions, of course — the deal's being extended on a first-come, first-served basis for a limited time period on Wednesday, and only at five participating tattoo parlors — but there were plenty of fans eager to take the Kings up on the offer:

With everyone lined up and the artists ready to go, it was time for some needles to meet skin:

Perhaps most amazing of all, though? The fans who got so excited by the prospect of inking the new logos on their bodies that they didn't even wait for the Kings to pay for their tattoos.

Let it never be said that there are not a great many Sacramentans who so love their rambling wreck of a local squadron that they would give of their skin to broadcast their passion to the world. Now, let us all hope that the Kings don't decide to change their logos as quickly as they've changed their head coaches over the past several years; touch-ups and cover-ups can be tricky.
