Michael Beasley handled the trade deadline with cartoons and junk food

The trade deadline can be a trying time for NBA players, with many not knowing if their lives will change entirely in the span of a few hours. It's tense, and players need to find ways to blow off steam. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley was oft-rumored to be heading to the Los Angeles Lakers in a three-team deal. And while that trade never materialized, he still had to weather the anxieties of the day.

So, like any 23-year-old millionaire, Beasley watched cartoons and ate junk food. From Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune (via PBT):

"Fanboy and Chum Chum," in case you're unaware, is a Nickelodeon animated series about two kids who love comics and imagine themselves as superheroes. It is apparently aimed at hyperactive children, although a theme song performed by The Mae Shi and voices by Wyatt Cenac suggest it has some indie cred, too.

It is easy to mock Beasley for his taste, but his choices frankly seem pretty awesome. With the potential of a seismic shift in his life, he relaxed, turned his brain off with a silly cartoon, and ate some unhealthy but spiritually nourishing food. I highly doubt that any of us would have thrown on a Ken Burns documentary and enjoyed a kale-based salad in a similar situation. As a wise man once said, let he who is without pizza cravings cast the first stone.
