Kyle Lowry tosses his shoes to a Raptors fan, intercepting Bulls fan has other ideas (Video)
It’s tough out there for a Chicago Bulls fan. Derrick Rose is out for the rest of the year after yet another worrying knee surgery, the team has suffered through injuries to exhibition season and regular season injuries to Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Jimmy Butler and Kirk Hinrich on their way to a 12-18 record after a perfect preseason. On top of that, fears about tensions between the squad’s coaching staff (who is to share some blame for overusing players) and the front office (don’t get us Bulls fans started) add to a general air of despair. There’s potential, down the line, but a lot has to go right for this to turn around.
In the meantime, we Bulls fans focus on the little things to get us through. Anything you could do, after a rough New Year’s Eve loss to the improving Toronto Raptors at home, to make you forget that the last 20 months ever happened.
Like, stealing an opposing player’s shoes that you really have no right to grab. Watch:
Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, after notching 13 points and six assists in the team’s win on Tuesday night, decided to make the night of a Raptors fan that either made it all the way down from Ontario, or braved the Chicago night in an Amir Johnson jersey to root on his team in an enemy setting, and toss both his shoes to the fan following the win.
And then some dude crept out to grab both of them mid-air.
What. A. [Expletive deleted].
Nothing’s guaranteed in these situations, and it’s not uncommon to see pricks like this guy steal headbands or all manner of memorabilia obviously meant for someone else. And unless Lowry decides to walk both shoes over to the fan in the Raptors jersey, things are technically and literally up in the air. The Raptors had to hurry back to Toronto following the game to take on Indiana in the second night of a back-to-back on Wednesday, over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day no less, so Lowry wasn’t really hoping to stick around.
He was sort of hoping that, you know, the Raptors fan he tossed his shoes at would actually get those shoes without some douche intercepting them first.
We don’t usually support vigilante justice here at Ball Don’t Lie, but if you recognize the shoe thief in person you are more than welcome to not hold the elevator for him, or give him the last slice of pizza in the box.
You can slap him around a bit with his shoes if you want, too.
