Following a typical DeMarcus Cousins game (stat sheet? Stuffed.), the Sacramento Kings big man weirdly decided to spark up something with Chicago Bulls assistant coach Randy Brown. Just after Sacramento’s 107-102 loss, this odd incident took place:

Following the contest DMC chalked the back and forth up to “trash talk,” though it’s hard to fathom how much ammunition Cousins would have had following his team’s loss.

As noted, Boogie filled up the box score. It was another 30-point night, his 17th on the season, with 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks (also six turnovers, but sometimes you have to break some eggs). The Kings competed with the visiting Bulls, who were playing without All-Star Jimmy Butler, but the squad just couldn’t turn the corner.

It was Sacramento’s fifth loss in six games, dropping them 2.5 games in back of Portland for the final seed in the West (the win was also bittersweet for Chicago, which has a vested interest in Sacto making the postseason, as it will earn the team’s first round draft pick if it makes it in). Following the loss, on the eve of a four-game Eastern swing that leads into the All-Star break, Cousins was asked about his team’s goals for the trip:

Just three? That schedule would include Brooklyn, Philly, Boston and oh right, Cleveland. Boogie just reminded us that Cleveland is pretty good.

Why Cousins went after Brown is anyone’s guess. They didn’t appear to be jawing during the game, and they don’t have a recorded history. Randy Brown was drafted by the Kings back in 1991 and played for the team for four years, but outside of a big trade deadline deal in 2009, the Kings and Bulls don’t really have much of a connection goin’ on. By the time DeMarcus made it over Brown’s way, Kings head coach George Karl was already off the floor.

Another very DeMarcus-like night, in Sacramento. Prepare yourself, Eastern Conference – here the Kings come.
