The 10-man rotation, starring Jerry Sloan Day
A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.
C: NBA.com. Steve Aschburner with a typically great, long read on the various standout moments in Jerry Sloan’s celebrated playing and coaching career. On Friday night the Utah Jazz will honor Sloan with a ceremony and raised banner, and the state of Utah has declared today "Jerry Sloan Day."
PF: Salt Lake City Dunk. Just a fantastic compendium of Jerry Sloan anecdotes, columns, videos and GIFs, one that I’ve already giddily read twice, something I’d encourage you to do as well.
SF: Salt City Hoops. A nice discussion amongst various Jazz fans and writers about Sloan, the person and coach. It also featured the legendary (to the pre-Twitter era, at least) screaming match between Jerry and Rasheed Wallace from the lockout year.
SG: Detroit Bad Boys. I don’t know how David Nurse limited all the things wrong with Brandon Jennings’ perimeter game to just five, but the shot doctor did so in an efficient, effective manner. Brandon Jennings is not the David Nurse of pro basketball.
PG: Detroit Free Press. Dan Feldman takes on the larger, nastier issue of the Piston offense as a whole.
6th: SB Nation. Tom Ziller intelligently discusses why Kyrie Irving would not turn down $80 (and potentially $90) million to leave the Cavaliers.
7th: Fear the Sword. Justin Rowan breaks down the various ways the Cavaliers can turn things around, which may or may or not involve several severe medical procedures.
8th: TrueHoop. Harrison Barnes is quite talented and he’s had plenty of opportunities to contribute this season in Golden State, and the second year forward has responded with a disappointing season. Ethan Sherwood Strauss discusses where Barnes’ career is at, a year and a half in.
9th: Hardwood Paroxysm. Jack Winter with a marvelous look, especially for NCAA dummies like me, on the up and down freshman seasons of Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker.
10th: Grantland. Zach Lowe with ten things about the All-Star “snubs” that actually weren’t.
