FBI investigating ISIS threats against UFC's Tim Kennedy

Life can be pretty rough as a professional mixed martial artist.

There are the grueling, months-on-end training sessions, the back-breaking submissions, the punches, the kicks, and all those wonderful slams and knockouts. It certainly isn’t your typical 9-to-5.

UFC middleweight contender and former Green Beret sniper Tim Kennedy knows all about taking on rough and tumble work. Kennedy, now a member of the Texas National Guard, has recently only had to worry about fellow UFC fighters trying to do him harm.

However, according to a new social media post from the former 7th Special Forces Group member, he might have some more pressing issues to worry about other than UFC fighters trying to knock him senseless.

Or, you know, not worry about, apparently:

“Just spoke with the FBI regarding some recent credible threats towards me by ‪#‎ISIS‬‬,” the post read. “They were not overly thrilled with my response... "Let those cowards come."

In a follow-up interview with the Army Times, Kennedy said he usually deals with anywhere from five to 10 threats a day, but very few, if any, are credible.

When the FBI comes knocking, though, it could be time for some – at least in Kennedy’s case – mild concern.

“Apparently a couple of them were legitimate in trying to, from what the FBI said, plan stuff,” Kennedy said. “They said, ‘Are you aware of this stuff?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ They said, ‘We think this is somewhat credible.’ Then I said, ‘I’m kind of desensitized to this stuff, so maybe you should tell me what my level of alarm should be.’ ”

Seeing as Kennedy survived numerous trips overseas into various active war zones, it’s easy to understand why he isn’t too concerned with virtual threats, even if they are coming from one of the most vilified terrorist groups in the world.
