Topps to release baseball cards of characters from the film 'Bull Durham'

Most baseball fans will agree that "Bull Durham" is one of the better movies about the game. The film was a huge success at the time it was released, and has since appeared on a number of lists as one of the best sports movies ever made.

One of the reasons the film is so beloved is that it features a number of memorable characters. Thanks to Topps, those characters will be immortalized with their own baseball cards.

Yes, that is Kevin Costner as minor-league catcher Crash Davis. You'll notice the card features Costner's autograph, which is pretty neat.

Other than the one Instagram post, not much else is known about the set at this time. We can probably safety assume that Tim Robbins' character Ebby "Nuke" LaLoosh and Susan Sarandon's Annie Savoy will also receive cards. We don't know that for sure, but how can you make a "Bull Durham" set without those two?

This is far from the first time Topps has produced cards based on famous baseball films. The company released a set featuring characters from "Major League" back in 2014. Given the excitement surrounding that set, it's no surprise Topps would make cards from another excellent baseball film.

Happy collecting, "Bull Durham" fans. This is your chance to not only snag a card of one of your favorite characters, but also get that Kevin Costner autograph you've been seeking for years. Whatever you do, though, make sure you always treat your Crash Davis card with respect.

We've seen what happens when you cross Crash Davis before, and it does not end well.
